Another milestone

The girls had a doctor appointment Monday to check to make sure the last round of antibiotics had done their job. Thankfully they did. For the visit we saw a doctor we don't usually see and he questioned me on bottle use. O has never had a bottle and A weaned herself around 18 months but, guessing where he was going with the questioning, I admitted that my girls use pacifiers for sleeping. Apparently A's mouth is developing in a way that might require expensive orthodontic appliances if we don't quit the pacifier use immediately.

Considering that we have the girls' first dentist appointment on April 28 and I don't like being told that I'm allowing my children to do something that could cause them developmental harm, the girls and I had a talk on the drive home. Since they are big girls now, starting that afternoon they could just hug their 'pacis' during nap and at night (*note: Kevin was on a business trip and I was scared enough by what the doctor said to do this alone!). The plan was that on Wednesday night, when Daddy returned home, they would be putting their 'pacis' in a very special box and they would no longer use a 'paci'! I tried to sound really excited and it seemed to work. I was very surprised by how well A&O managed to just hold the pacifiers during naps. Nighttime was a little tougher in terms of the amount of time it took to fall asleep, but the pacifiers remained tucked under the covers the whole time. The real test was Wednesday night.

After one final suck on the 'pacis'

the girls slipped the pacifiers into plastic bags,

placed the bags in heart shaped puzzle boxes they received as gifts when they were born

and closed the lids.

After our very happy little ceremonial event the girls climbed into bed and, with reminders of our bribes of a special shopping spree at Target and a trip to the ice cream store, they eventually fell asleep.
**************
Wanted to add that A decided the perfect thing for her to buy at Target would be a red headband. O chimed in that she would like a green one. I really thought they would go for the $150 lifelike pony!
Later, while I was getting A ready for bed, she let me know that she thought she would also like a red bra to go with her red headband!

The Perfect Decorations!

I have been a fan of Tollipop for a couple of months. It is a wonderfully sweet blog that is celebrating its first anniversary this month with some wonderfully sweet giveaways. Giveaways that would be perfect for me to hang on my relatively bare walls. Please check it out for yourself here.

Happy Dingus Day!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter with family and friends. We had a great day! The girls were up at 6:00am and digging into their baskets by 6:30am. This year the EB brought them candy, blueberries, books, small dolls and hockey sticks! They liked everything but the hockey sticks were a big hit! The EB also left two adult sized sticks so we can have fun family games of street hockey on the driveway (I'll be sure to let you know when the first window gets broken!).

After nap we headed over to Aunt Linda & Uncle Ty's house for a family dinner. Ty outdid himself with a huge amount of delicious food and my 10 year old niece W made an amazing fresh fruit Angel Food cake that ended the meal perfectly!

Today A&O had more fun playing with their new Easter toys while I packed away the Easter decorations (I'm funny like that~ once its over, bundle it all up and move on...). Not sure what to decorate with next!

Here comes Peter Cottontail...

We recently took A&O to see the Easter Bunny. The past 2 years we've waited until Good Friday for our visit but it was always so busy and rushed. This year we decided to beat the crowds. As a result there were no lines and whenever we got remotely close to "Easter Bunny Village" the girls had to stop by to say 'hello.' That means that A&O had their initial visit where we had their photo taken and they received their chocolate lollipop.

The next visit, 15 minutes later, was to show the Easter Bunny painted eggs the girls picked out.

Another 15 minutes passed and we were back to give the E. B. high fives.

After picking out some yummy cookies we waved good-bye and headed home.

It was a good day!

April **Snow** Showers!

Yesterday I took a photo of some daffodils in our front yard to send to my parents ("Look Mom & Dad! Spring is here!").

This is what those poor little daffodils woke up to this morning.

My Great-Grandmother's words of wisdom from experience: "It will always snow on the daffodils."
Spring will return. Hopefully in time for our Easter Bonnets and Easter Egg hunt!

April Showers

How appropriate that our April began with a rainy day!
Today was Garbage Day and Art Class Day but I think the highlight of A&O's day was using their very own umbrellas for the first time! I bet we'll be going out after nap with umbrellas and rain boots to puddle jump!
